Why CZ and Polish Cats have such costumes? Not the original?

It's because Polish and Czech folks have a tendency to over-create things to make it "theirs". Not a good habit, when you look at our CATS costumes. Laughing

It's because they didn't purchase the costume rights from the Really Useful Company. They would have to hire artisitic directors and all from the RUG in order to use costumes more like the originals. It's likely very expensive.

The Really Useful Group has even made some productions change the style of the costumes after they've been designed because they look too much like the originals. In Helsinki and Budapest it was very similar. In Oslo and Stockholm they were a little different from the main styles, but John Napier designed the costumes for them.

For productions like in Russia and Spain they are bankrolled by the Joop van den Ende company who use the London costumes and all.

Because our translator was not so creative to create a word similar to "jellicle". "Dachowy kot" is a phrase that we call wild cats living on junkyards. A word "dach" means "a roof" - because cats like jumping on roofs Wink

On www.musical.pl they use a phrase "Dżemiły kot", which is (in my opinion) better translation for the "Jellicle cat" Wink

Thanks. It's funny, but when we translated some songs from Cats on polish, we used "dach" too, but we knew, that that cats didn't live on the roof. You English is better, than my Polish, but I can understand Polish posts.
