They look different too, but they're definitely better than Polish ones (though I wouldn't recognise most of the characters either - just like in our version). |

Thanks for these photos!
I'm wondering if the choreography is changed in Czech CATS or is it almost the same as the video one? Because our costumes/choreography have been changed - completely.
Our CATS/KOTY are 'on hold' right now, the performances will be resumed in February 2006. |

Choreography is somewhat changed in Czech ... as well as costumes, make up and scene. For example - Czech Cats take place at old attic of house (not at junkyard). We have round scene and auditorium is round it (www.chcikocky.cz/galleries/005/401_big.gif). It is very attractive, because before the beginning of performance the scene is open (it is created as large tip-up gate). People come throught it and sit on seats and first words, you can hear from them is: "Hey, where scene is?" At the beginning of performance (when overture is giong), the scene shut slowly. It is brilliant.
In the choreograpfy there are many changes, but generally it is similar as original production. The greatest changes are in costumes and scene. |

Our scene is not really very static. It changes almost completetely with every song. Being accustomed to the junkyard, I didn't like it at first, but seeing the great lighting work convinced me the second time I saw it.
Seems like Czech CATS are something really very different and something to see. Thanks for the info. I don't like it when they change the choreography, but if parts of it remained intact, it's good too. For instantce: Do you have a Victoria ballet solo after 'The Naming Of Cats'? Or Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer being all acrobatic? How about 'The Jellicle Ball', is the choreography changed?
Just a few things I'd like to know. |

Yes, I think Czech Cats performance is something to see. I am great fan of video version, but I love Czech Cats as well. They are different, but we like them. In some ways they are better then original performance
Concerning choreography: Yes we have Victoria ballet solo (www.chcikocky.cz/galleries/2005-01_02/big_021.jpg), but it is little different then original (It is typical ... Czech Cats have all elements of original choreography, but this elements are little different). For example our Rumpleteazer (Gabriela Jemelikova) said, that she saw video version only once, because she didnt want to by influence by this version. She wanted to be original. But they (with Mungejerrie) have acrobatics in their performance of course.
Would you like to visit Czech Cats? It isnt problem to arrange with Czech fans accomodation in Prague You can as well join to our Czech discussion - www.chcikocky.cz/forum/index.php. We are friendly and very talkative |

I might just do that (join the discussion). I wonder if a Polish-Czech CATS exchange would be possible one day. Would be fun - to spend 2 days at 2 CATS performances in 2 different countries when our show resumes in February. And I'd definitely like to see Czech CATS one day, especially when it's not too far away from me (I live in Cracow). |
